SUMMER GLOW 101. (BY HELENA H. FROM MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY)
Clay Masks
This is for all my oily skin mamas! In the summer, our skin produces more oil than it usually would because the air isn’t as dry as it is in the other seasons. Clay masks heal, detoxifies, and smooth out your skin. Sheet masks are great for moisturizing in the winter months. I, personally, recommend the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Mask!
Protective Styles
The humidity is unpredictable. No one has time for a wash-n-go or twist-out to go wrong! Summer is the season for protective styles. I’m in love with the latest trend of feed-in braids. They are cute and conveniently keep your hair out of the way.
Get Some Sun
Don’t be afraid to get darker! Darker complexions hide imperfections in the skin. The darker the berry the sweeter the juice, as you have to know by now! With that being said, even if you have melanin in your skin, harsh UV rays can still cause damage. Authentic Shea Butter is a great alternative to sunscreen. Shop Martha Lorine Organics for ethically-sourced Shea Butters from Ghana!
