MY SKINCARE ROUTINE. (BY NILE FROM UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND)

Having oily skin is a struggle.

It seems like no matter what you do or what products you use, you always end up shiny before the day ends.

I've had a hard time dealing with my skin since about the 10th grade, but I'm starting to figure out what products work for me. Skincare products can be incredibly expensive, but they don't have to be.
Read below for my skincare routine. I switch up products sometimes depending on how I feel, but below are my staple products! I will add the links to where you can purchase the products. I usually shop at Target because it's my local store.

(NOTE: What works for me may not work for everyone, so feel free to alter products accordingly.)

My Daily Routine
It's suggested that you follow the steps: cleanser, toner, moisturizer. I follow these steps twice a day--in the morning, and at night.

I wash my face with warm water, and then I rinse off the face wash with cold water. I use a cloth to dry my face.

Toner: Witch Hazel ($2.49, but can be found cheaper)

After drying my face, I take a cotton ball (or cotton pad) and I apply witch hazel to my face. It helps to get rid of dark spots.

I love this product so much. It lasts for a while, and always leaves my face feeling just right--not dry, but not oily.

Sometimes after using my Trader Joe's moisturizer, I'll apply a dime sized amount of Vitamin E Oil on my face to help get rid of dark spots. Vitamin E Oil can be found at various other stores, but I purchase mine from Trader Joe's.

Special Products
I workout often, so I usually keep something in my gym bag to clean my face after a hard workout session. My favorite products to use after a workout are the Yes to Cucumbers Hypoallergenic Facial Wipes ($2.99) My skin always feels refreshed and never dry after using them.

Lastly, twice a week, I do a facial scrub using either honey, cinnamon and nutmeg (the nutmeg isn't necessary), or extra virgin olive oil and sugar. It's a nice way to get rid of the dead skin on your face--but be sure to moisturize afterward!

Your diet also plays a role in how your skin looks. Be sure to drink plenty of water, and avoid too much greasy food and sweets.

I hope my routine will be helpful to you. What type of skin do you have? Oily? Dry? Combination? What products have you been using? Let me know by tweeting me @NaturallyNi or @NerdyNaturals01!
