GET FIT WITH TRISHA (BY TRISHA FROM UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND)

With working out, what I’ve noticed about myself and others is that it’s hard to keep proper form, especially once you get fatigued. However, form is so important! You can lift 10x the amount I’m lifting and have bad form, so you’re only putting yourself at risk instead of getting gains. Examples: Lunges! Squats! Push ups!

Lunges!
Lunges are leg movements. You can work your hamstrings, glutes and quads with them. You can also make the movement more quad-dominant by shortening your stride or step (I love working my quads). You can even add a deficit and do reverse lunges driving your knee toward the floor to activate your glutes more.

A big rule of thumb is keeping you spine neutral so no hunchback situations! This helps you keep better form to avoid injury and get the most out of your reps.

Squats!
Squats also work on legs! There are several variations of squats.

When I squat I want to keep my chest up, and I turn my toes outward a bit. Try not to lean forward when you squat. Instead, focus on descending with your hips and bending your knees.

Squatting is great for your bum of course, but BOOM--it's good for your quads and hamstrings too.

Push ups!
Push ups are great strength builders. You use your own body weight as resistance. You want to get arms length from the ground and have your hands as wide as your chest.

When you lower yourself, inhale, and when you come back up, squeeze your chest and exhale. This helps me feel strong but on a side note, I think it helps keep your boobs lifted; I’ve noticed a difference.
