KICKING OFF JUNIOR YEAR. (BY NILE FROM UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND)

Junior year is interesting.

It feels like you're supposed to have your life figured out, but you're still a"baby," because you're not a Senior yet. You start to notice the same people in your classes because you've finally declared a major (if you didn't before), and you're pretty much adjusted to the college workload and college life in general.

I've just finished my second week of Junior year, and I can honestly say that I'm confident that this year will be an awesome year. It was nice to come back to campus after a long summer and to see familiar faces both inside and outside of class. It's nice to study things that I'm passionate about and to be involved in activities both on and off campus.

My first two weeks of Junior year consisted of a lot of things:

  • A super awesome welcome back cookout where we ate food, danced, laughed and caught up with friends.

  • An open mic night that happens once a month where anyone can showcase their talent.

  • Getting lost on my way to class on the third day (I know, I should know my campus by now.)
My mom encouraging me as always (I was joking, of course.)

  • Being stuck in the library on the very first Friday afternoon of the school year.

  • A soccer game: We played Stanford and the score was 0-0.
Yes, I took this selfie during the game.

  • Org. meetings (Tip: Get involved in something on your campus.)

  • Presentations, assignments and quizzes (as usual.)

All of this may seem like a lot (especially to our readers who aren't in college yet), but that it's what makes me enjoy college so much. I enjoy the fact that every day is different, and you have so many options as to how you want to shape your experience.

Out of the three years I've been in college, Junior year has been my best start. I'm truly excited for this semester, and for all the things that I will accomplish. I'm studying the things I love, I have amazing and supportive friends, and I challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone every day.

I hope all of our readers have an amazing semester/school year!
